Default Footboxes

I just received my body a few weeks back and I was a little surprised at the footbox design, rather large to accomodate the top mounted pedals, body is great otherwise. If you look at my profile, I am fitting body A to frame B so I expected some modifications to be done. Unfortunately, I didn't ask enough questions prior to purchasing, my bad.

Questions:
1. Can someone give me rough dimensions at the firewall and narrow end of the original footboxes?
2. Cobra Restorers has the boxes on their web site, has anyone cut out their replica ones and fitted original size boxes? I know in doing so will push the pedals to an underfloor mount, but I think I can handle that fab issue.

Any other comments or sources for foot boxes would be appreciated. I just think the tall foot boxes take too much away from the engine compartment.

Thanks

Dave
