Default New York Registration

A bill is again pending in New York to register street rod (pre 48) and custom ("Cobra") type vehicles. According to the SEMA website this is the current status:

Issue: License/ Titling/ Registration
Bill: S.B. 615/ A.B. 52224
Status: Active
Location: In Committee
Description: Creates registration classifications and special license plates for street rods and custom vehicles.
Author: Senator Hoffman/ Assembly Member Parment
Intro Date: 16-Jan-03
Bill Type: Two year bill from 2003

Inasmuch as the "title companies" have all pretty much been put out of business, it behooves us to seek legislative relief. While putting a car through the present component vehicle registration process in New York is not impossible, it's not easy, particularly if you are using a modern engine.

New Yorkers: contact your Senators and Assembly type folks...

Jim
