I guess if you have to be the first on the block....Historically, no matter what new car came out in the last 20 years or so, a heavy premium for the first few has always proven to be a loosing proposition for the buyer.
I myself had the opportunity to own one of the first 1992 Dodge Vipers for the $52,500 sticker price. After 300 miles, I was begged to sell the car by someone offering me $97,500 because Barrett was bringing $100K plus commission. Like I said, bad for the buyer but I guess good for the seller. The Ford GT will be good for the seller.
