American Family was mentioned as a possibility for insurance as well as Progressive. Keep in mind these Companies only write cars on a stated amount or actual cash value. Your best option is an agreed value.
Many times when you call an agency the agent is not familiar with cars enough to know that a Cobra is not a Mustang. Most of the standard market companies will not insure "kit cars". I know some are not actually kit cars but they look at them all that way since they are not made by Chevy, Ford, Dodge etc.
I don't blame insureds being concerned about not being able to sit eye to eye with their agent but keep in mind the agent sells insurance and is really not involved with the loss payments. Make sure your agent knows what the vehicle is and you answer questions on apps correctly.
I have found that most Cobra owners are about 50 plus in years of age and this is their "mid life crisis playtoy". I enjoy talking cars with the guys or gals that call and we would be happy in helping you insure your Cobras or answering insurance questions.
