Default Cooling system protection

Has anyone used the radiator caps with the sacraficial anode dangleing from the cap? Will they work and provide protection for the entire system if it is in the tank instead of oin the radiator? I am concerned about the aluminum in the front cover and in the radiator. I am using Super Water Wetter (gold) distilled water and whatever amount of coolant that could not be drained from the block via the radiator. It is about a 12-14 qt system. I guess the net installation is similar to that of an early Corvette as the tank originates from there.

Thanks
