Ed, please appoint someone to take the reins in your abscence.
I am sure you have probably thought about this and already have someone in mind, but as one of the "Seniors (in age)." I just thought I would mention it now.
We should have someone who knows who to see, and when. Also someone who is familiar with how we pay the track, and how payment is made; seeing as how Ruble won't be there either. Someone to collect the money and keep track of who owes what. Maybe to that regard - all money for this track event should be in Ruble's hands by Monday May17th. Then Rubble can cut a check and get it to whoever you have put in charge.
I say this in all seriousness. I think I can speak for all of us in saying: "We don't want to make any mistakes that could ruin our relationship with the track, or harm the good name of the DSCC"
I will offer my trailer and awning for the timing station and track base of operation, and also help in way to organize and run this venture. I do not consider myself experienced enough in the management of an event like this to take the resposibilty for being in charge; however, Tom Jones, Chester, Robert, Bob Gassie, and Jim Pomroy come to mind as potentional leaders, and I am sure there are others whose names don't come to mind right now.
I think we would also like to have the timing equipment, and Debbie seems to have a handle on that, we can all pitch in for the setup. Radios, flags, and other equipment we use on "race day" should also be on hand if possible.
I hope my thoughts and concerns do not offend anyone, but I feel that they are serious enough to express here on this forum for all to see and comment on.
Guys, lets make this an event that we all can be proud of!
Then maybe we can say: "ED, YOU'RE FIRED!"
Really - just joking Ed. You have done a superior job in organizing these events and I just don't want any of us to be the ones to screw things up in your absence!!!!
