I had the same problem, Tach was working fine did some other work, dash lights and switchs. Checked all the new items and they worked fine but the Tach was dead. After hours of looking I to thought I had fried the Tach. I took the tach out and hooked it up to another car, it worked fine. My problem was the MSD capacitor had come undone, re soldered and all was well. Some times we get so deep into something we forget the easy $hit.
