Ibr8k4vetts and Kirkham get the geniuses of the day award! I just returned from my friendly (but not too smart) Ford dealer. I insisted he order a manual transmission gear. He said that they were all the same - duh. He ordered one grudgingly and lo and behold the teeth point ///, not \\\ !

Thanks again guys. You saved me from multiple tickets because I never could tell how fast I was going when my butt is 5 inches from the ground.

I wonder if English, Australian, and South African gears go the other way.

Last thing... some toploaders do use backwards (auto trans) gears - they are the ones where the gear goes in the drivers side instead of the passenger side. I learned a lot about this stuff in the last week.
