They are made by the same company that makes the Thermos, ponder this: you put something Hot in a Thermos , it stays hot; you put something cold in it and it stays cold. How do it know?

If the tank did not have a return line and no vent it would colapse
as fuel was withdrawn by the pump, seen it happen in the past on production cars fitted with the wrong cap.
