I believe your initial is way high. You can call the Ford tech line at (586) 468-1356. I think they will tell you your initial should be around 14 and the total at 32 to 34. Just keep in mind that every engine is different as you will have to experiment a little. Your stock distributor should put in about 20 degrees of advance at 2500 to 2800 rpm.
