I have seen some folks cut the plate around the handle. If you do this you can not us a plate holder such as the one on our car. We us an electric poper to operate the latch. The last CR we did we put electric popers on the doors hood and trunk. It is great fun at shows for the guy that owns it. Someone gets to close to the car and he hits the button on his key pad in his pocket and a door pops open. Folks think they did something and jump back from the car.
