I'm sorry to report that I had similar problems with my Richmond as well
. Two complete rebuilds later I came to the conclusion that it was a hearty 'ole tranny but speed shifting or just plain old faster-than-normal shifting were not it's cup of tea.
I now have a TKO II and OH MY GOSH the difference is unbelievable
!!! I can snatch gears faster than I could ever even dream of with the Richmond. My suggestion is instead of doing what I did (1K later between two rebuilds with no improvement) - REPLACE THE DARN THING IF YOU WANT PERFORMANCE and sell your Richmond for 1K to somone who wants a good stout street oriented tranny. Best wishes! BTW, I'll give you $450 for it.
