Bring your car out here with all major receipts, not from any one place, and use SB-100 if you can get one of the 500 numbers in January that 4,000 people are waiting for. If you register it back there, then you just have to do it again here using SB-1578 which also uses the same 500 numbers that are available each year. Bring lots of paper work showing the car is a kit car and not a turn key, and then a couple of suitecases of money. Go to the DMV web site and it will tell you the steps you have to take. I can also give you a site where you can go to print out each step and also gives the Memo number the DMV should have as some of their people aren't familiar yet with this procedure. Also register by the year of the body. The choice is the owners, engine year or body year. Pre 1966 and the engine doesn't matter as that was before emissions requirements.
