Pete...

My only concern is that lubricants need to reach and maintain a
" certain" temperature to provide the required lubrication properties.

I'd be more concerned with finding what temp the oil achieved before I committed to a cooler which may in fact cause your oil to not reach operating temps.

Then again..you can get thermo oil bypass thingys which wont pass the oil to a cooler until a certain temp is reached.

You may well be installing a cooler because it looks Kewl.
