Actually 80% of all our builds are based on the D3/D4----- Ford 390 engines from trucks. We have also had the best luck with this series of FE.
Yes $350 is a good buy as a cutout, that is all the brackets, alt, starter, distributor, and so on. Removing it be removing the mount to frame bolts, the tranny bolts, exhaust flanges, all the fuel/
oil lines and all wiring at the motor. Finding most of that stuff takes time and get it in a pile for exchange or use.
