What are your numbers?

Initial?
Total?
size wire to the starter?
Size wire to the solinoid?

If you think it is too much back it off to say 10 degrees and see if you can get better cranking like Ron says.

We shoot for 32 to 38 total and there are different camps on what the initial is set to. Personally, I set for total. Rev to 3000 and set the dist to 36. Then let her idle down and see what she is set at.
