I had a rich situation with mine as well. I could not get it to idle clean and not stumble. I had to run rich to get past the stumble. I went with less overlap on the camshaft and it cured all of my problems. I was 248 @ .050 as well. I went to 230 @ .050 and life was great. Good luck
