Ron;

Will be pleased with 450hp at the crank,but should be a little more........ I bought the heads/intake from another vintage racer(actually traded him a truck load of old Mustang parts I had collected over the years that I did not need),using a new solid roller cam of the same specs as he did,the only difference is he had a Callies crank and some lighter weight pistons,same rods and carb,his dyno sheet showed 490hp at around 7000 rpms if I remember correctly...He's running a different Vintage Series now,they have to run stock stroke and factory iron heads made no later than 1972......so I basically bought the top end of his motor,built my own bottom end........he ran this set-up three or four seasons with no problems,only changing the rings and bearings every other season.....hope this motor can stay together and last as good as it did with him........

Cranky;

Defintely open pipes (only way to go ) X-crossover,3 inch pipes and 2.5 inch tail pipes coming out in front of the rear tires.......I asked about 0-ringing the heads and they told me not needed with top-of-the-line head gaskets.......hope nothing blows,have a stud girdle on the bottom and Canton 9 quart road racing pan with the four trap doors and oil cooler built in a griffin radiator,four speed close ratio toploader,9" rear with 3.70 gears,have another center section with 3.50 gears,both with Detroit Lockers..........

Plan to shift at 6000 rpms and might see 6500 to 6800 in high gear on a few long straights,7000 rpm chip in the MSD box.....fourth gear at 6500 rpms calculates out to 135 mph with a 3.70 gear and my road racing tires,plenty fast enough for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hope to start racing in about a month or two,plenty of races scheduled around here..........next is get my 8-point roll cage put in and certified,then put my front and rear racing suspension on,drop in the motor/trans. and ready to go racing,can't wait,have one compettion license already and working on another...........

David (future road racer extraordinar )
