Bruce, not to disagree with you. We old 30+ year veterans tend to use (and recommend) what works best for us.

The DP has its advantages and limitations. In most instances, as you pointed out, for street use, the driver will most likely benefit from a Vac Sec carb. Injudicious use of a DP will result in a less responsive car. The old Holley Q-Jet replacement 4165's, even on big block cars proved this.

With a mildly built Cobra 302 or 351, AOD or C4, and 3.08 gears, I'd never put a DP carb on it. But most guys don't build Cobras this way.
