I agree. 500 miles is a short time to kill a front bearing in a water pump. The usual cause (besides a defect) is the belt tension being too tight. Did you run a tight tension? It is better to run on the loose side if possible. But, Edelbrock should stand behind their product. I too have bought one of these for my 428 and have not run it yet.
