With 80 deg. temps, it should not reach 220. I have a 428 with a high lift solid cam & I'm running a 180 deg. thermostat, one puller fan...for now. Anyway, With 80-85 deg. weather, I never run over 205 deg. in city traffic. On the highway at night & around 60 deg.'s in air temp, I even have to turn off my fan or the water temps go down to apx. 170 or so. I plan on buying a automatic switch, sometime I forget to turn it back on. In the heat of the summer of around 95 deg. air temp & in traffic, it can get up to 210 deg's but,.... rarely. Questions, what deg. thermostat are you using, who's radiator, are you using
antifreeze, what type of water pump ? Oh, I also use reverse osmosis or distilled water with "water wetter", good stuff.
