I have found the Edelbrocks to do pretty well out of the box. Usually the most difficult is the transition from part throttle to wide open. The springs on the metering rods will help transition from lean to rich based on vacuum and they have charts to show which ones to go to for richer or leaner. The squirt volume is controlled by a linkage adjustment so if it hesitates when you stomp on it you may need a bigger squirt to go with the sudden increase in airflow.
