Paul, Congrats on your new Toy! I went into your gallery and saw a backseat in a blue Cobra?? Would like to know more about that if you would please post a few more photos.
Tim gave you some great info on all points His point about motor mounts allowing you to drop engine is also right on. The way to determine if it is possible to or needs to be lowered is the PINION ANGLE. Measure or find amount of Neg. angle to see where you are at now. A drive on lift that raises car by lifting all 4 wheels is the easiest. Good info Tim!
We have found more than a few cars with wrong pinion angle with some being able to adjust back into good zone while others need the diff rotated farther than welded mount points allow so out comes the metal erraser (cutting torch) to remove and relocate mounts. Check these sites and then think what moving engine tranny up or down does to a fixed setting of the differentials pinion angle? Most of the sites do just talk about rotating the diff but what is affect of dropping engine with trans output mount not moving in relation? Good reading below jeff c
