The predecessor to the FMX, the Cruiso, as pointed out are pretty much the same tranny (mainly a valve body upgrade) was used in a REAL performance application. It was the trans used in automatic Thunderbolts of the mid sixties. They were the Lincoln version (more clutches) with a revised valve body, I think that would definetly qualify as a performance application. They have,however, fallen by the wayside as the others have been developed (the inner workings of an AOD were derived from the FMX though) and don't command much attention or money.
