Yes, sure it's a 69. the engineering number breaks that out for you...C=1960, 9= 1969. So C4=1964, C5 1965 etc...
B4=1954, D6=1976 and on....the next letters (ZP) tell you who made it and for what...Z=foundry and P=large Ford. The 4 digits after are assigned to specfic parts, 1000=wheels and chassis, 6000 are engine parts, 7000 drivetrain, etc... A '7008' is an FMX transmission, a '6010' is a block. The last letters are design changes...'A' is for the original design, B the first change, C the second, AA the 27th, etc....A really neat and orderly parts system.
The FMX is not really a good performance choice per se, due to WEIGHT...but they are bullet proof when built right. For a Cobra, find a good performance C4 and get the best of both worlds, reliability and light weight. Avoid standrad rebuilt C4's, the bands are incredibly weak and one day you will want to go for a drive and the shift lever wont come out of park.....
