I don't see any flow advantage to replacing a hose with a smooth bend with a 90 degree fitting.

When we install an electric pump (rare), we mount the pump from a bracket attached to the side of the frame rail. The pump inlet height is usually a couple of inches below the top of the tank. That seems to keep the fuel from siphoning back into the tank.
