The Richmond 5-speed definitely requires that the X member be moved back. It's physically longer and the mounting holes are 2" further back than the Tremec. (Don't even think about the RG 6 speed...) Except for the slightly-off shifter location, there is little disadvantage to using the Tremec rather than the Richmond.
