Carb is flooding, typical problem found on MANY of our cars. Typical solutions are:

External bowl vents extensions using a piece of rubber tubing.
INTERNAL bowl vent extensions, these help a LOT, but don't CURE the basic problem (fuel sloshing into the main venturi areas).
It helps to keep the float level at the lowest acceptable position.
Center pivot float style carbs like the original Cobras ran for this VERY problem!

Center pivot float carbs are to 'long' to use on a 2X4 intake which is the main reason the competition Cobras ran one carb! Shelby DID run a 2X4 intake during the GT-40 days to increase power output, but they weren't center pivot!
