The rubber is just so hard! They are only bad in a critical sense. Meaning, everyday use they are fine, nostalgic and look good. They just cannot be trusted on the track to hold a line. If you hit some irregularity in the track on a relatively hard turn chances are pretty good that those tires will not hold you on the track. Same thing if you press too hard. A BDR suspension, as well with really most cobras, will far outperform those tires. You will rarely see someone smoke t/a tires unless you do a second gear drop and really lay into it.
Although I have not been there, I have heard that Mid Ohio is a pretty tough course that has a fair amount of concrete barriers.

Being embarrassed about spinning out is one thing.

Ending the day spinning the back end of a cobra into a barrier is quite another.
I highly recommend appropriate tires.
