There has been some discussion of 3M clear bras on meguiarsonline.com. It seems that while the material may protect the paint underneath, it is quite difficult to keep it clear and free of scratches and swirl marks. Further, nobody seems to know how to get any marks out of the bra.
Most of the professional detailers I know stay away from clear bras.
