In 68 I had a 55 Ford Custom with a 406 +.040" .single 600 Holley and a Ford C8AX-6250-D camshaft. 330° duration, .600" lift 115° overlap. It also was one of those 1800 RPM idle numbers. I had a heck of a time with keeping temps in the zone. I had a large F 100 truck radiator in the front. When it wiped a bearing at 8400 RPM and scattered the next day. I then built another 406 and went down to a 324° cam and tri-power setup. I let a frend drive the car and he wrapped it aroud a tree.
