Thanks Al for the pictures. It looks a little modern under the hood for '64 technology. I bet it's a blast to drive though.
I have read that when the '66 and '67 Fairlane was run in NASCAR some teams grafted in galaxie subframes so they didn't have to deal with the spring over top A-arm suspension (fairlane / mustang). So I really didn't expect to see shock towers on this car, but it still looks pretty modern.
There was a pretty decent article about the car in HOT ROD May 2006. They said it was built as an experiment for unibody cars in NASCAR and it raced in the Daytona Continental (sports car) race and came in 2nd with Fireball Roberts driving. I haven't found results of that race to confirm it though, and there is no mention of the car in the Holman-Moody book. It would be neat to see a picture of it racing with a bunch of modified sports cars.
