Default Oil leak help... thinking it's the fuel pump

Ok, here's the deal... I've got an oil leak, that's pretty annoying, and hard to track down. But I think I may have found the culprit...

First off, the car only leak oil when your on it pretty good. If you clean the motor off and then run it at idle, nothing. Take it out for a drive and come back, and there's oil. Get on the throttle hard, and you can SMELL the oil in the car.

Now, the oil is in the area of the fuel pump and that corner of the motor. It's definitely "spraying" the oil under pressure, because it sprays up on the hood. So it can't be something like a manifold leak or any other leak not under pressure. But, it also can't be just a leak from a pressurized source either, because my car almost as much oil pressure at idle as it does driving. So if it were like a line or fitting or block adapter leak, it would do it all the time.

The one part that's covered in oil the most, is the fuel pump. I have an original AC fuel pump, rebuilt of course. I ALSO have a spare parts pump, of the standard Carter type, which is basically the same pump, it just doesn't say "AC" on the top.

I noticed that on the AC pump, there are two holes in the upper housing. They look like some kind of vent holes. The other pump does not have these holes, however it does have where they are cast into the housing, just not drilled.

So here's my thought... The upper part of the pump housing has the pump arm in it, so it's exposed to engine oil via the timing cover. If those two holes ARE in fact some kind of vent holes, I am thinking that the puslation of the pump diaphram is pushing oil out of them. That would also explain why at higher rpms, it sprays oil harder (enough to hit the hood above it).

So what do you guys think? Anyone been through this before? I might try to close those holes up, but would love to hear if anyone else had ever come across this before. Thanks!
