paul, i made a kit a few years back for a LT1, it was a small nippondenso alternator around 70 amp, and we made it so it would fit up close to the engine, if you like you could try it out and see if it fits.

the only problem is that it a bit rusty, but nothing like a bit of a scrub won't fix
