You're right: you can get a new top from a dealer and yep, lots of info.

There are several threads in the first few pages which have info on SPF tops.

Thanks for the info Lowell. My car is SPF1405 and has the old top. It's on the truck and I expect delivery within the next week or so. I'll post a formal intro when I can put a picture up here. I know I want that newer style top so I was collecting info - it seems all the dealers are out of stock and there are several on order currently in containers on their way from SA to California I'm gonna try and get me one of those
