Default Yep; that's an issue.

Ray's comments about lining the wheel wells is an excellent suggestion. The spray rubber compound works good and is easy to do. The tires actually feel "tacky to the touch" whether they're hot or cold. And they pick up everything. In my case the wheel wells are not an issue. First, I don't run stickys on the front, only a radial. Plus, the fiber glass body of a WC Cobra is so thick it feels like 5/8 plywood. Tha't one of the two reason's I'm a 1000lbs heavier than most of you guys.

That being said; you give up something to get something. I want the traction on the street and the tires give it too me. The car is useless and dangerous if I can't get the HP to the ground. Before I switched to the drag radials, it got to a point where I was afraid to put my foot in it. Three years ago I broke it loose on Route 80 in 3 gear at 65MPH with the BFG TA's on it when I was passing another car. Scary $hit. It was a wakeup call. If I'm racing or I'm going to be smoking the tires, I run duct tape on the inside fender well lip, but not for chips. Saves cleaning the sticky compound off the lips after smoking them. I peel it off when done.
