Speedo cable location?

Let me try this question here...no response further down on the DK page.
I have a '66 Galaxie toploader that matches my FE block (same donor). The speedo cable goes into the DRIVERS' side of the trans...do I need a special speedometer and/or gear? Photo is in my gallery, pg. 1.
