I left my newly aquired Superformance with a Tremec 3550 in my friends garage after we took a drive last weekend. When we pulled into the garage we noticed it was leaking a bit. Looked red like ATF fluid. He left me an e-mail saying he thought it was coming from the rear of the trans. He thought it might be the rear trans seal.

Does this make sense? Are leaks common, or rare? Are there other places on the trans that are likely leak sources I should check?

If it is the rear seal, is that a big deal to replace?
