I really hate to admit this but on my engine I used RUSTOLEUM Royal Blue in the spray can. Five years and it looks as good as new and the color is nearly dead on for early Ford blue. Obviously, no rust anywhere. Although what I did sounds weird, the idea came from a reputable engine builder who swears by the same product. Doesn't even need primer when used on freshly tanked parts. The same guy uses a red Rustoleum with a brush in the valley and inside the heads to seal the metal instead of Glyptal. Claims he has never had a failure in more than 20 years. Go figure.
