Found the same problem with mine.
Ended up finding the best spot for installation & left it at that.
Works great, slides in & out smoothly, no vibration.
I am sure there is a master spline in there somewhere, just very difficult to see or find when working under the car with limited space.
Wearing bi-focals doesn't make it any easier either
