Here is what I know from my DMV..and he has done it for over 20 years...........
1. go get your paperwork done, pay your fees and get the receipts, Cert or ORig. together...(which you best have anyway B4 you hit DMV
2. Now, here is the part that confuses....but pretty sure it is right..
you can either go to CHP and get the VIN stamped, or wait till after Jan2, when you will be waiting for your SB100 number.
3. after you have your Sb100, then you go to CHP,(if you did not go there aleady).
4. then you go to BAR
5. then you go to brake and lite
6. Finally,........now you go to DMV and get the thing finalized with plates........
It is pretty much that way........some say you need to get the CHp first, but I just went to CHP and they, along with the guy at DMV..said that the chronology of that is not necessary.....
