I recall an interview with Richard Petty, LATE in his career. He always wore cowboy boots when racing and finally someone talked him into trying some race shoes.
He was saying how much nicer they were than cowboy boots, and started wearing them regular!
Can you imagine wearing boots while racing your Cobra?
