Mike,

I have had a CCP for about 20 years. I had no trouble at all getting one. Had to go to a school and qualify as I had been out of the military to long for that to count. They used to just be for 1 year but many years ago they decided it would save money to issue them for two years. At the time I was carrying a lot of money and test equipment at times and the woman deputy that interviewed me just said you need it for Personal Protection. Now all I have to do is attend a safety class at the range some time during the next two years and have that certificate to show them when I go in again. The class just covers new laws, and you have to go shoot 50 rounds in different situations. Also we have had Sheriff's here for the past 25 years that are big on then rights of people to have and carry guns. Just go in and talk to your Sheriff's dept. and they will tell you what you need to do to get one, and they are good for all of California and some other states that they have worked deals with. DO NOT go into Canada with your gun unless you check it at the border.
