In truth if it is $40K then the plate fee is about $700- per year on a depreciating scale. If it is $80K like a SuperFormance or Shelby , the fee is $1,400-. Paying $23- because the person does not question whether the car is new and of recent manufacture is pretty risky considering the hot water you can get into like having the title cancelled , huge penalties and potential jail time....
