Not Ranked
Auscobra
I think the EL engine is rated at something like 185 kW, I might be wrong, but I was under the impression the AU series started at the 200 option and went up from there.
There wouldn't be much difference between engines, maybe the heads, so for a starting arrangement it wouldn't be too bad. You can always do extra work later to up performance.
One issue would be when you hope to be registering the car. If you are hopeful of getting this before the end of the year, I'd recomend the AU engine to help with ADR's, as these engines are still legal till end of year. I know you are talking gas but if you wanted to reconvert the AU engine to petrol the AU engine will give you that option if registered this year.
I bought my 220kw engine in March last year for $5K, with manual box, all accessories except the air cond comp., computer and loom plus extractors, so think you price may be a touch high. My engine has done around 60K.
The 220 has cast GT-P heads as it was out of a Tickford as well and I am not sure if the 220 and 250 variants were just in Tickfords or in the less enhanced models as well. Clearly extra ponies are from headwork, so as I said earlier, you can tweak the E series motor well enough.
Some food for though.
Cheers
