As Mike said check the ADR regulations in your state. Chances of being able to use a 5 litre motor are slim as they no longer meet emission standards (that's why Ford dont use them anymore).

I have the 5 litre Xr8 motor but if I was building again I would probably look at the LS1 or the Lexus V8. I suggest you also contact the kit manufactureur to see what they think would fit and check out what capacity motor the chasis is approved for.
