Guys,

Thanks for the replies. The transmission only has about 3K on it and was checked for proper fluid level not too long ago. The only thing I can think of that may not be right was that when it was first installed, the trim ring/boot around the shifter was installed while the car was in gear. So, when it was in 2nd or 4th gear, it would slip out of gear from the pressure of the boot pushing on it. I reinstalled it (moved it backwards) when the lever was in neutral and the "popping out of gear" problem went away. I am not sure if this would have an effect on syncros or caused some other problem to eventually develop into this one. Other than that, it works great in all the gears with only a problem with "grinding" when downshifting from 5th to 4th. I should also say that it doesn't happen all the time, just most of the time!
