crazee,

BDHE's got it right, you want the CHP installed VIN on your title. I actually had the exact same issue as you, but I noticed it when I received my title earlier this year (2007 SB100).

I suspect that your SB100 sequence tag also has the wrong VIN number on it, mine did. It's in small print at the bottom, if you see your SPO number on there anywhere you will want to get that fixed too.

It'll probably be a pain in the a$$ 6 years after the fact, but it was suprisingly simple for me. I went to the DMV first, they needed to see the car in person. I signed a form statting that I had no knowledge and that it basically wasnt fraud. DMV worker verified the VIN number from the CHP, then did some stuff in the computer and 15 minutes later sent me home with a reprint of my registration that showed the corrected VIN.

Now call the BAR scheduling center and tell them you want to get your SPCNS seqeunce number sticker corrected. They were also friendly, the only two things here is that 1 they will rerun the smog tests that you going to fail (duh thats why you got an SB100 number) and 2 the old sticker has to come off. Mine had only been on two or three months and it took the tech 15 or 20 minutes to get it off. After 6 years it may be.....unpleasant.

Hope this helps.

Daryl
