You can answer your own questions once you look for awhile at the vintage photos of the row of bare Competition cars sitting on the tarmac at LAX.

SAI purchased a complete Ford engine/trans assembly from Ford and plugged it in and added plumbing, voltage regulator, solenoid, seat belts, wheels/tires, exhaust and "corrected" the exterior badging.
(Comp cars were more difficult... add paint and a hood scoop...)
Cars arrived VERY complete, i.e. wired, lights, horns, wipers, top, side windows, gas tanks. Even the radiator and
oil coolers are English.
