Default 1x4 vs 2x4 power

The factory 2x4 setups always made more power than the factory 1x4's, top end or otherwise. Here is a period Fomoco comparison: http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/s...=47039&cat=500 Single vs dual carbs was one tool that NASCAR had in their pocket back in the day in their attempt to equalize different make cars - they would disallow or allow multiple carb configurations as they saw fit. I believe SA only used the 1x4 on comp cars because of driveability issues with the 2x4, which Ford eventually overcame on the MKIV GT40. Those TP engines used 2x4, as they raced at Lemans in '67. There were some springs added to the floats and maybe other tweaks.
